If we’ve spoken within the last few months there’s a good chance Barack Obama has come up at one point or another. A year ago, the likelihood of Barack Obama becoming the Democratic nominee was a remote possibility, but in that time he’s somehow reinvigorated voters of all ages, colors, and creeds to get back in the process, speak out, be heard, and be the change we seek in the world. His message of hope, unity, and doing what’s right although not always popular, has motivied millions to get back involved and to be able to hope again after the last 8 years.
I’ve already written a bit on Why I’m Voting for Barack Obama and Barack Obama: Debunking the Conservative Propaganda but I wanted to take a minute to sum things up in the days leading to the March 4th primaries.
You’ve likely heard Obama and Clinton debate at least once or twice by now, read some of their stances on the issues, and maybe even had a chance to see them campaign in Ohio. Many of their policy positions are similar. They’ve agreed that 95% of their healthcare plans are nearly identical for example. When you go to vote on March 4th however, you’re still being presented with two distinct choices.
- You have the choice between someone who’s been funded by special interests and someone who’s been funded by now over 1,000,000 hopeful American’s once again energized to participate after the last 8 years. [Via ChicagoTribune]
- You have the choice between someone who caved (just about everyone did) under the republican pressure to authorize the war in Iraq and someone who stood up against it from the very start. [Via Barack Obama - Iraq]
- You have the choice between someone who, now backed into a corner, is using every scare tactic [Via WashingtonPost] and legal tactic [Via Wall Street Journal] in the book to drum up votes versus someone who’s won more delegates, more states, and more popular vote this primary and has kept it clean along the way. In Obama’s own words, “I want to campaign the same way I govern, which is to respond directly and forcefully with the truth.” [Barack Obama - Know the Facts]
- You have the choice between another 4 years of a Clinton in the Whitehouse which would mean two families have controlled it for the last 24 years, or someone who can move things forward in a new direction, a better direction.
- You have the choice between business as usual or a fresh new face to politics.
- You have the choice between someone who consistently cites what ‘I’, ‘She’, ‘Me’, ‘My’ will do versus someone who understands the difference between dictating change from the Oval office and encouraging people of different backgrounds to work together.
- You have the choice between someone who cites her First Lady experience as her most qualifying attribute yet couldn’t pass her Healthcare plan in 8 years the last time, versus someone who understands the need to bring competing interests and backgrounds together and has dramatically demonstrated his capability to do so this campaign.
- And perhaps more importantly, you have the choice between someone who polls show is far behind McCain in the general election versus someone who actually has a shot at beating him. [Via RealClearPolitics]
I couldn’t more sincerely hope you’ll vote for Barack Obama on March 4th.
Thanks!
